I like climbing, but I don't get to very often. I also seem to change countries every few years, so that I never get to know any one place particularly well. As a result, I look to the internet for information on climbing sites, much like any other information I ever need - however I haven't found any place out there where I can find reliable information about several different climbing areas, places, specific crags, and especially searching efficiently looking by climb difficulties, geographical proximity, diffficulty of access, consensus on "Quality" of the climb, etc.
In this web 2.0 age (or is it 3.0 now?), cooperative / participative services are the big thing, and that's what I'm trying to achieve here. A platform where all climbers can cooperatively create and maintain a "climbing map" of the world - a list of all the known climbs, and all known information about them - using integrations / tools of the web 2.0 world, such as google earth and google maps (note a bias here?).
If you're a climber, check it out and tell me what I can do to improve it (even the features I'm talking about above are not ready, but any suggestions you have will help me immensely!) If you're not, check it out anyway - I need some
